I attended the Koton event a couple of days ago, it was spectacular (despite having slight fever, I must admit, I think I was the last one standing, goes to show I wasn’t bored stiff). The event was hosted at the top notch Kempinski Palm Jumeirah in one of their lovely villa’s which saw home to the media, Koton staff and bloggers alike. Walking through the secluded and intimate byway before I reached the venue was fab, full of palm tree’s and dimmed lighting – definitely a romantic stroll for one (me). I was welcomed by the ever so lovely PR team, and given a tour of the venue including a briefing on the upcoming presentation to showcase the season’s trends and the prime inspiration around the collection.
One of the ladies from the Koton HQ in Turkey flew over to present the theme and how Miami was the focal SS’13 influence around the collection. Going through the clothing rail’s a step at a time, fellow bloggers and myself sat on the most luxurious looking seats lending a sharp ear to the presentation (ooopsie, sorry I didn’t take a snap, I was clearly kicking back, sipping on some juice and chocolate coated strawberries a little too much).
Pastels are one of the key trends for SS’13 , even across the jewellery and accessories range for Koton. The best part about pastels are the longevity, wear them right through the hotter climates before the winter hits again. The blush colour shoes (pictured above) remind me of the 60’s and how the women used to wear bib collared polka dot dresses (so cute).
Gold, gold, gold! If you’re like me and prefer wearing gold coloured jewellery over silver, then get yourself into Koton for a snoop. My favourite part is of course the necklaces, it will jazz up a dull outfit.
From flamingo, floral to oriental prints, Koton has a wide range to dig your teeth into. Pastels to darker tones, the entire range is fashion meets comfort. The wide legged pants are a summer must have, swap your skinnes for a pair of these – it’s trendy meets formal.
Stripes is my utmost favourite trend for SS’13, Koton has its fair share to offer in the next 2-3 weeks when the collection hits stores. If you’re daring and like to experiment with how you dress, mixing stripes together is one option, the other is to keep it focal and team with a plain pant or vice versa a plain top. Mannequin meets human (As seen above – thanks to Koton staff for striking a pose for moi)!
Denim is no longer boring, inserts of lace, string on jackets and Tie-dye are key items for Koton’s SS’13 denim-wear.
What I wore, some pre-shots before I made my way to the venue.
