This event was crazy. Firstly, I am the most nervous driver in Dubai (with every reason to be), and try to avoid it any cost, unless I’m mall bound.
So, this is how my day unfolds, I set off 1 hour early (5PM) to avoid rush hour and reach Dubai Mall for 6pm (more than reasonable), 5 mins into my drive, I come to a stand still, by this I mean people stationary and walking around on SZR (the busiest road in Dubai) a couple of seconds later, a helicopter lands amidst this chaos because a major accident has just taken place. Of course I want this person (s) to be fine, but I cant help but think of the increased traffic subsequent to the accident, and yup that’s exactly what happened.
Luckily I reach Steve Madden just in time for the fashion show, ready for the models to rock and roll and strut the SS’13 collection. Having bumped into another Dubai based blogger, Ushi Sato, we were seated at the back, a great spot to peek at the models. The models step out one at a time, footing everything from bling to studs, with a few arm raises and shoe-tying moments.
Fashion show over and networking begins. For me it meant snapping some of the collection more closely. The collection spanned from skyscrapers to flats, pastels to bolds, studs to embellishment.Steve Madden’s SS’13 collection has 6 themes for their womenswear, Pretty in the City, Studs in the City, City Brights, Sparkle in the City, City Heights and City meets Country, all self explanatory.
The styling was a little of key, not quite sure if it sat well with the overall theme, and what pushed me to giggles was the fake doggy!
Steve Madden has opened 15 stores in the U.A.E that include The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Festival City, Oasis Centre, Arabian Centre, Outlet Mall, Ibn Battuta Mall and Mirdif City Centre in Dubai; Al Wahda Mall, Dalma Mall and Centrepoint Marina in Abu Dhabi, Al Jimi mall in Al Ain, Fujairah City Centre, Al Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman City Centre.
